2. Navigating the CAMS Mobile Interface

Overview

This article provides a walkthrough of the CAMS Mobile App interface and how to move through different sections of the app. It reflects the navigation process covered in the CAMS Mobile Quickstart video.

For a video walkthrough of this process, refer to the CAMS Mobile App Quickstart Walkthrough.

Interface Overview

Once you're logged into the CAMS Mobile App, the screen is divided into three main functional areas:

.

Top Header

The blue bar at the top of the screen displays the current context within the selected module. It typically includes the module title and the current level or item in the hierarchy (such as a site, level, or asset group), along with options to navigate or search.

  • Primary Hierarchy Label – Displays the currently selected level or item from the primary hierarchy (e.g. a site, building, or floor).

  • Search Icon – Located in the top-right corner, allowing users to search for assets by name or ID.

  • Filter Icon – Found above the search icon, this allows users to refine the items displayed on the screen. Filters are dynamic and will change depending on the current context or screen.

Side Menu (accessed via the menu icon)

Includes the following options:

  • My Account – View your profile information.

  • Organisation – Select from available organisations.

  • Module – Select the relevant module (e.g. Buildings, Roads).

  • Notification – View system updates or alerts.

  • Contact Us – Submit a help request.

  • Pre-Load Previous Data – Toggle to enable or disable loading history data into inspection records. This appears as a grey switch with the label "Pre-Load Previous Data". It is located in the side menu just beneath the Contact Us option. When toggled on, this setting preloads previous answers into inspection fields if available.

  • Module Reload – Refresh the selected module manually.

  • Log out – Exit the app securely.

Bottom Navigation Bar

This bar appears at the bottom of the screen and provides navigation shortcuts. The icons, from left to right, include:

  • Home – Returns you to the landing dashboard.

  • Chat with Support – Opens direct messaging with the CAMS support team (if enabled).

  • Reports – Displays access to inspection or module-specific reports.

  • User Guide – Opens the in-app guide or links to relevant help centre articles.

The icons may vary slightly depending on your user role and enabled features..

If you would like to explore the interface layout in more detail, please see: Understanding the CAMS Mobile Interface.

Opening the App and Choosing Your Module

  1. Log in using your standard credentials or Single Sign-On (SSO), if enabled.

  2. Tap the side menu icon to expand the navigation panel.

  3. If your account has access to multiple organisations, select the correct one.

  4. Then, select the module you'll be working with - such as Buildings, Roads, or Bridges.

.

Note: The modules available to you may vary depending on your role and organisation.

For more guidance on choosing modules and organisations, see: Selecting Modules and Organisations in CAMS.

Navigating the Hierarchy

  1. Navigation tabs appear just below the name of the selected primary hierarchy. These resemble breadcrumbs and allow you to view and access each level you've selected within the hierarchy. You can tap on any level to go back and adjust your selection.

  2. Start by selecting the highest level in the hierarchy (usually a location or site).

  3. The hierarchy will expand step by step to show nested levels.

  4. You must select each level in order - the app will display an error if a lower level is selected without choosing the level above.

  5. If you reach the lowest level and no assets are downloaded yet, a warning will prompt you to download them. You may also see asset groupings such as "Building Type" or "Partition" depending on how your hierarchy is configured.

.

Tip: This structure helps ensure assets are inspected within the correct organisational and location context.

For more detail on using the navigation hierarchy, see: Working with Asset Hierarchies.

Filtering and Searching for Assets

  • Filter Icon – Located in the top-right corner of the screen, above the search icon. This opens a panel that allows you to filter and refine the list of items displayed. Filters are dynamic and will adapt based on the current screen and module configuration.

  • Search Icon – Found at the top-right corner of the screen, this opens a search bar where you can type an asset name or ID to quickly locate a specific record.

Selecting an asset from the list will open the inspection screen.

.

Inspection Page Layout

  • Fields visible by default (typically required or common fields).

  • Fields in the "More" section, which can be expanded to enter additional data.

These fields and their layout are configured by your organisation’s admin.

To understand how inspections are structured, see: Inspection Screen Layout and Functionality.
